Job Description Summary:
To skillfully prepare and cook meats, vegetables, and a variety of other food in large volumes on a timely schedule.
Essential Duties :
Prepares, seasons, and cooks meats, vegetables, soups, and a variety of other foods.
Washes and sanitizes utensils, cooking equipment, and kitchen areas.
Checks foods for correct serving temperatures.
Operates standard cooking equipment including mixing machines, steam cookers, grills, food choppers, food slicers, baking ovens, fryers, and stoves.
Reads and interprets production sheets, standardized recipes, and other written instructions.
Washes, peels, and cuts vegetables.
Establishes and exercises reasonable diligence to secure Blinn College property within this area of responsibility.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to understand and perform oral instructions.
Ability to perform physically demanding activities including walking, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and supervisors.
Ability to learn or knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service.
Ability to care for and use basic food service equipment.
Ability to learn routine methods and practices of food preparation and service.
Basic reading and writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Food service experience.
Salary Range: $35,360 year
